Introducing Trisha Easley

May 30, 2013

in Design Team, Trisha

Last, but certainly not least of our Design Team Members, Trisha Easley is a super talented artist and I am so thrilled she was willing to be on the team.  Her medium of choice is watercolor and she has done some amazing paintings. But she also loves Creating Lasting Memories and our little unique forms of art. I can always count on her to try all the new products and techniques. I know she won’t be intimidated.

She helps me teach the 12 Tags of Christmas classes, where we use lots of Tim Holtz stuff. Not surprisingly, her Challenge project, using the Prima Hello Pastel papers and embellishments, was this tag:

Here’s how she went about creating it:

  1. I took an extra large tag and dragged it through 3 colors of Distress Paint and water. I sprayed more water on the tag and moved it around to get the look I wanted. (I left some areas without paint to show the background). Then I dried with a heat gun.
  2. When the tag was dry I distressed the edges with a distress tool.
  3. Using a Dylusions 5×8 stencil that I taped to my tag, I filled in the design with a white pen.
  4. I then used a Stampington & Co. stamp and archival ink.
  5. With a Vintage Photo distress ink pad and applicator I went over the tag.
  6. I adhered flowers, leaves and butterflies to the edge of the card.
  7. I used a pearl pen to embellish the flowers and the butterflies.
  8. The last step was to add the ribbon to hang the tag.

For a “favorite” piece, Trisha submitted these two canvases:

And if you are able to come in the store, I have her “bug” canvas up on the wall near the register. Her work is truly marvelous. Can’t wait to see what Trisha will come up with each month.
